FEDERATION OF WESTERN OUTDOOR CLUBS

21.
POLICY ON WILD PLANTS AND ANIMALS

ISSUE
Various environmental laws passed in recent years have recognized the rights of particular wild species to survival, but no general enunciation of these rights for all plants and animals has been recognized.

The F.W.O.C. feels that in considering our total environment, man should not relate all things to himself and to his benefit, but we must recognize that we depend on the total environment of Spaceship Earth and all its creatures and plants.  All living things are part of our environment, and deserve to be considered in any modification of that environment, whether in building houses, dams, highways, or any of the other man-made changes that affect the land and water around us.

WHAT TO DO

The Federation of Western Outdoor Clubs urges its members to work with other organizations to influence government at all levels to pursue policies that respect the right of survival of all plants and animals, their contributions to our environment, and the benefits they bestow on succeeding human generations.
