RECREATION
OPPORTUNITIES ON LOGGED LANDS |
|
|
In timber sale document
after timber sale document in Southeast Alaska we find the Forest
Service attempting to sell the public on the great recreational
opportunities to be derived from "opening up the land" and
providing logging roads for access. |
|
The Federation of Western Outdoor Clubs disagrees with this concept of improving recreational opportunities on forest lands. Federation members prefer their recreation in unspoiled natural settings. | ||
Therefore the Federation
of
Western Outdoor Clubs asks that the Forest Service cease to claim that
logging roads improve the recreational opportunities for backpackers
and wilderness travelers. |
