OMITTED LANDS ALONG
THE SNAKE RIVER AND HENRY'S FORK |
|
|
Certain early government
surveys along the Snake River and Henry's Fork in Idaho resulted in
land along those rivers not being sold to individuals earlier, and such
omitted lands between the original survey line and the meander line of
the rivers legally belong to the Federal government. |
|
Loss of good riparian
habitat along our rivers is a serious problem and the omitted lands
along the Snake River have been identified as the best riparian habitat
in the State of Idaho. Some of the omitted lands (islands in the
Snake River) have been proposed for wilderness designation.
Adequate relief exists for the equitable sale of the land to present
landowners under cases of hardship where improvements have been made
prior to 1961 under Public Law 87-469. |
||
The F.W.O.C. urges the
Idaho Congressional delegation and the Bureau of Land Management to
retain as much of the omitted lands in the public domain as is
consistent with P.L. 87-469. |
