ASSISTANCE TO PRIVATE
RANGELAND OWNERS |
|
|
Privately owned rangelands provide
a substantial amount of habitat for numerous plant, fish, and wildlife
species. Many municipal and agricultural water supplies come from
rangeland watersheds. Private landowners need technical help to
maintain or improve their rangelands. Some federal research
stations in Montana, Idaho, New Mexico, California, and Utah are
threatened with severe reduction in operation. The Federation of
Western Outdoor
Clubs recommends that the federal government take immediate steps to
maintain the operation of its range research stations; and where
necessary, provide additional technical assistance and research in
range management to the private landowners. |
