REVIEW OF ROADLESS
AREAS FOR WILDERNESS |
|
|
In the course of
implementing the RARE II inventory of potential wilderness land, hasty
and often uninformed decisions were made. New information and
changing needs now dictate that certain roadless areas should be
reconsidered for inclusion under the Wilderness Act. Since a
decision not to
designate a roadless areas as Wilderness may well be an irreversible
one due to subsequent development, legislation denying wilderness
status to a given area of our country is not wise or desirable. |
|
The Federation
of
Western Outdoor Clubs asks Congress and pertinent federal agencies to
continue to review roadless areas for their value as prime wilderness. |
