MOUNT SAINT HELENS
NATIONAL MONUMENT |
|
|
Mount St. Helens, the only
active volcano in the contiguous forty-eight states, has generated
intense public interest. The surrounding areas has unique and
significant geological, ecologic, scientific, sociological,
educational, recreational, and scenic resources. National
Monument designation would give the area the type of sound management
and protection necessary to preserve its values. |
|
The Federation
of
Western Outdoor Clubs supports the proposal of the Mt. St. Helens
Protective Association for the creation of a 216,000 acre Mt. St.
Helens National Monument for the area around and including Mt. St.
Helens, Washington. |
