SOUTH FORK CORRIDOR TIMBER SALE IN OREGON | |
|
||
|
The Willamette National
Forest in Oregon is presently considering a timber sale in the South
Fork Corridor of the McKenzie River, adjacent in part to the Three
Sisters Wilderness Area. The integrity of the area, together with
its scenic and recreational values, would best be upheld if no sale is
undertaken. Therefore, in order to prevent negative impact,
particularly on the adjacent Wilderness Area, the Federation of Western
Outdoor Clubs recommends that, except for the removal of hazardous
trees, the U.S. Forest Service adopt the "no action" alternative to the
proposed timber sale. |
