No. 32 |
CALIFORNIA STATE PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION | |
|
||
The California State Park
and Recreation Commission is a useful public forum, before which people
and groups can appear to defend the wilderness values of California's
state park units against anti-conservationist pressures. AB 2910,
currently pending in committee in Caliifornia's state Senate, is
written
so as to abolish this important Commission. The Commission should
not be eliminated, but rather improved by creation of several
subordinate entities, each of which would be responsible for a more
manageable portion of the state's land area and would be supervised by
the statewide Commission. |
||
|
Therefore, the Federation
of Western
Outdoor Clubs urges the California Legislature and Governor to reject
any proposal to eliminate the California State Park and Recreation
Commission and, further, urges the Legislature, Governor and interested
citizens to work toward improving the effectiveness of the Commission
by creation of subordinate entities overseeing different areas of the
state. |
