No. 33 |
THE CALIFORNIA WATER RESOURCES CONSERVATION AND EFFICIENCY ACT | |

||
|
The Federation of Western
Outdoor Clubs supports the California Water Resources Conservation and
Efficiency Act which will appear as Proposition No. 13 on the
California ballot in November. California has an alarming water
deficit: water is needed for industry and jobs, for recreation and
fishing, for our homes, for our farms, and for the protection of our
wildlife. This measure calls for key reforms in state water
policy: meaningful water conservation, groundwater management, and
instream protection. Rivers, lakes, streams and groundwater will
be protected by new programs, policies, and identification of critical
areas. Issues like Mono Lake, the Stanislaus River, wild rivers
on the north coast and the state's vanishing wetlands will be helped if
Proposition 13 becomes law. It is imperative that this statewide
conservation measure receives the financial support, the time and
energy of each individual citizen living in California. |
