BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT WILDERNESS AREAS | |
|
||
The Bureau of Land
Management (BLM) lands are the last great, unrecognized source of
wilderness areas. These lands are being reviewed and numerous
Wilderness Study Areas (WSAs) have been identified. All of these
areas, because of the conditions imposed for their selection, already
qualify for Wilderness Area status. But there is now a very
past-paced effort to determine which WSAs will be recommended of full
Wilderness Area protection. |
||
Therefore, the Federation
of Western
Outdoor Clubs urges that this effort proceed with due deliberation,
with adequate opportunities for public participation, so that worthy
BLM wilderness study areas are not excluded or severely cut down in
size. Furthermore, the Federation encourages clubs or
individuals to "adopt" and follow them through this process, so that
they may be adequately considered and protected. |
