LAND ACQUISITION ON PROTECTION ISLAND
|
|
Protection Island in Puget
Sound in the state of Washington, after a long drawn-out struggle in
which the Federation of Western Outdoor Clubs participated, was set
aside as a National Wildlife Refuge by a bill passed by Congress in
1982. Subsequently, funding was appropriated for the acquisition
of the entire Refuge. Nevertheless not a single parcel has been
acquired to this date. |
Therefore the Federation of Western Outdoor Clubs requests the Department of the Interior and the Congress to take the steps necessary to expend the funds authorized by Congress to acquire the Refuge as a part of the National Wildlife Refuge System. |
