1988 RESOLUTIONS

_NO.10_ |
|
There is before the State
of Washington Department of Ecology an application by the Environmental
Security Corporation for a permit to build a waste management facility
which would include incineration, landfill, liquid waste treatment and
waste solidification less than a mile from the Columbia River in Grant
County, Washington. This proposal is known as the Rabanco
proposal. |
|
This proposed facility is ill-advised because of its potential for accidents which could result in contaminating the Columbia River and in ground water pollution in connection with the river as well as in household wells. Also, the incinerator will cause considerable air pollution which would be dangerous to crops, wildlife, and human health. | |
The Federation of Western
Outdoor Clubs urges Christine O. Gregoire, Director of the Washington
State Department of Ecology, to use the influence of her office to deny
the permit application of the Environmental Security Corporation to
develop the Rabanco waste management facility in the vicinity of the
Columbia River. |
