The Colville National
Forest Draft Management Plan for North Central Washington retains
clearcutting as the primary method of timber harvest, with virtually no
provisions for selective cutting and uneven timber stand management. |
|
The Plan would increase
the allowable average timber harvest, reduce the few remaining stands
of old growth, reduce existing roadless areas, reduce timber harvest
rotations, and increase the existing forest road system
significantly. Further, the plan is based on flawed or obsolete
data and recommends no new trails or maintenance of existing trails. |

The Federation of Western
Outdoor Clubs supports the Inland Empire Public Lands Council's
challenge to the Colville National Forest Draft Management Plan. |
