1988 RESOLUTIONS
|
_NO.18_ |
|
The Smith River is the
only undammed unspoiled river in California. It has been referred
to as the "Crown Jewel" of the California Wild and Scenic Rivers.
The time is at hand to preserve this outstanding river forever. |
|
HR 3588 (Stark-Lantos)
calls for a formal National Park Service study of the Smith River
Watershed to determine its suitability for designation as the Smith
Wild River National Park. HR 3588 will supply the necessary
environmental and economic data on which the decisions will be made to
preserve this watershed. |
|
The Federation of Western
Outdoor Clubs supports HR 3588 and calls upon Senator Pete Wilson
(California) to introduce companion legislation to this bill in the
Senate. |
