_NO.2_ |
|
The Pratt River Valley is
in the Mt. Baker/ Snoqualmie National Forest in the Western Cascades of
Washington State near North Bend, and is within less than an hour's
drive from a large urban population. |
|
The floor of the main
valley is 7 miles long and one mile wide, the lower watershed is nine
miles long and 3 miles wide for a total of 17,000 acres. It
contains old growth forests, the habitat of many species of wildlife
and wild plants. |
|
It is also of high quality
trail and river recreation and for these reasons the Plan clearly
meets the eligibility standards of the Wild and Scenic Rivers
Act. The FWOC recommends that the Platt River Valley be set aside
by Congress as a Wild and Scenic River. |
