1988 RESOLUTIONS
|
_NO.21_ |
|
The pet industry has had a
deleterious effect on many wild bird species, especially psittacines
(macaws, parakeets, and parrots). |
|
The inhumane capture and
transport methods practiced by the industry cause the death of millions
of birds every year. The pet industry has demonstrated its
opposition to regulations which would protect these birds. |
|
The Federation of Western
Outdoor
Clubs supports efforts to enact a Wild Bird Importation and Sale
Control Act in the State of Washington and any other state without such
legislation. |
