It is increasingly evident
that global environmental issues such as the greenhouse effect,
desertification, ozone depletion, acid rain, and tropical deforestation
are major threats to our longtime national security. |
|
Worldwide, $2.5 billion
dollars are spent daily on military programs, many of which are
environmentally harmful. At the same time solutions to critical
environmental issues remain unfunded. |
|
The Federation of Western
Outdoor
Clubs calls on Congress to stop unnecessary and ill-advised military
spending and redirect these funds toward solving regional, national,
and global environmental problems. |
