ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION |
11. | ||
ISSUE | The environmental movement
has in the last twenty years begun to make an impact on the laws,
thinking, and attitudes of most citizens, making them more aware of
their responsibility and dependence on the land, air, and water around
them, as well as the total relationship each part of the whole bears
to the others. |
||
STATUS |
The F.W.O.C. believes that
education is at the base of understanding our environment, and
therefore believes that school systems across the country should be
reflecting the concern about the environment and our part in it, and
should be offering programs at all educational levels, particularly in
early school years. |

WHAT TO DO |
The Federation of Western
Outdoor Clubs recommends that state legislatures and departments of
education mandate teaching of environmental education course. |
