CRATERS OF THE MOON

ISSUE | Ten years ago the Bureau
of Land Management approved the designation of 450,000 acres known as
the Great Rift Wilderness. The area is adjacent ot the Craters of
the Moon National Monument. There was unanimous agreement for
this proposal from all concerned parties. The proposal was sent
to Washington, DC, where it has languished. |

STATUS |
The recent proposal to
greatly enlarge the sizes of the Craters of the Moon and give it
National Park status has created resistance from cattlemen, sheepmen,
and hunters. |

WHAT TO DO |
The Federation of Western
Outdoor Clubs recommends that the BLM-approved proposal called the
Great Rift Wilderness be added to the Craters of the Moon National
Monument, Idaho. |
