25. | CITIZENS FOR BALANCED
GROWTH (Washington St. Initiative 547) |
||
ISSUE | Unplanned growth is
resulting in the loss of farm and forest lands, declining fish
populations, polluted air and water, loss of ecological diversity, loss
of valuable wetlands, threats to Puget Sound, wasteful and
uncoordinated development of roads, sewers, water and other services to
sprawling developments, destabilization of established neighborhoods
and communities, and divisive conflicts over land use and the future of
communities. |
||
The adoption of state land
use goals expressing our common policies and the creation of a
fair and open planning process that will allow citizens and local
governments to find the means adapted to their circumstances for
achieving these state policies in local land use plans and implementing
regulations is in our best interest. |
