| ISSUE | Overpackaging and
over-burdening landfills. |

| STATUS |
A few dedicated
environmentalists in desperation over excessive packaging of most goods
have been mailing back to the manufacturers these wrappings with
suitable appropriate remarks. |

| WHAT TO DO |
The Federation of
Western
Outdoor Clubs suggests to its member clubs and their individual
members that if many more packaging returns were received by presidents
of companies, changes in packaging would probably come about.
Emphasis should be made in letters of the need not only to limit or
omit unnecessary packaging but to require packaging materials that are
biodegradable or readily recyclable. |
