1991 RESOLUTIONS
|
|
COMMENDATION
OF CONGRESSMAN RICHARD STALLINGS |
In the 1990 resolutions
the Federation of Western Outdoor Clubs did not recommend the passage
of the National Recreational Trails Fund Act. Recently, the
Senate version of the Bill was passed as an attachment to the
Transportation budget. The companion bill HR 1155 is being
discussed in the House. Congressman Richard Stallings of idaho
has analyzed the bill and has evidence that the bill would be
detrimental to the repair of highways and bridges which are crucial to
rural communities. Furthermore, the benefits gained by trail
users could be attained otherwise by a more balanced funding approach
for trail construction and maintenance by the federal agencies involved. |

The Federation of
Western
Outdoor Clubs commends Congressman Stallings on his opposition to the
National Recreational Trails Fund Act. |
