1991 RESOLUTIONS

EARTH
SUMMIT, EARTH CHARTER, AGENDA 21 CONFERENCE IN BRAZIL, JUNE 1992 |
The 1972 Stockholm
Conference put the environment on the international agenda. The
1992 Earth Summit will move the environment to the center of economic
policy and decision making. The dissemination of information is
the basis for public awareness; public awareness and participation is
the source of political will; political will can be the key to the
success of the Earth Summit Conference. |

The Earth Summit will
include both governmental and non-governmental (NGO) participation. |
|
Out of the Earth Summit
can come a global partnership with people of all countries sharing more
fully and equitably in the stewardship and benefits of creating our
common future. |
|
The Earth Summit is to
agree upon a set of universal principles, the earth charter and on
specific conventions. |
|
The Earth Summit will
formulate a plan of action for the remaining years of the century and
the 21st century Agenda 21, that will establish programs, define
targets and fix objectives against which progress can be measured in
the years and decades ahead. |

The Federation of
Western
Outdoor Clubs endorses the Earth Summit and agenda 21 process.
The Federation encourages the support of and participation in the Earth
Summit and Agenda 21 by citizens as part of the NGO Conference. |
|
The Federation recommends
the United States take a leadership role to insure the Earth Summit's
success and that President Bush sign the Earth Charter and specific
conventions. |
|
The Federation recommends
development, including State, County and City, of an Earth Charter and
Agenda 21 for each community. |
