FWOC RESOLUTION #14 |
_PRESERVATION OF THE RUSSIAN RIVER AT SANTA
ROSA_
|
The city of Santa Rosa,
California is seeking permission from the state of California Water
Quality Control Board to dump treated effluent from its overburdened
sewage treatment plant into the Russian River. The plant is
overburdened because of poor planning by the city officials.
Santa Rosa has allowed developers to build sub divisions without heed
to the environmental consequences. |
The Russian River flow
through Sonoma County to the Pacific Ocean is a beautiful stream and
estuary used for recreation by residents of all the San Francisco bay
area. The area is the habitat for many birds and is host to many
sport fish including the steelhead. To dump treated sewage
effluent into such a fine waterway would be a crime. |
The FWOC opposes the
dumping of any additional sewage effluent into the Russian River and
urges its member clubs in California to oppose this action. |
