VANCOUVER ISLAND NATIONAL PARKS
1995 FWOC
Resolution
No. 3:
|
|
Under the combined efforts
of local environmentalists, led by the British Columbia Chapter of the
Sierra Club, and supported by the native peoples, the government of
British Columbia has set aside considerable areas on Vancouver Island
for protection from further development. |
|
However, other large areas
on the Island also need protection to preserve their
biodiversity. Among those lands not so protected are additional
areas on Clayoquot Sound, in the Tsitika Valley, Kiaskian and East
Creeks, Shushartie on Vancouver Island and the west coast of Nootka
Island. |
|
The Federation of Western
Outdoor Clubs goes on record in support of designating and adding the
above described areas as Vancouver Island National Parks. |
