1998 RESOLUTIONS
|
1998 FWOC Resolution No. 17:
|
|
Developments in Parks
|
|
The Federation of Western
Outdoor Clubs is aware that there are constant proposals to place
various "developmental projects" in urban open space parks.
Proposals range from sewage treatment plants to rose gardens to
memorials, to golf courses to convention centers to off-leash dog run
areas, and even to gambling establishments. |
|
The Federation understands
the needs of urban dwellers and city visitors to have green places of
quiet and tranquility, and supports efforts of local groups to keep
open space open. Specifically, it supports efforts of Friends of
Discovery Park in Seattle to uphold legislative protection of these
open space areas. |
