FEDERATION OF WESTERN OUTDOOR CLUBS

1998 FWOC Resolution No. 21:

Molybdenum Mine on Tributary of Salmon River in Idaho

World class fisheries on Thompson and Squaw Creeks are threatened by acid mine tailings from the proposed enlargement of operations at the Thompson Creek Mine.  The creeks flow into the Salmon River which also supports critically important fisheries.  The Federation of Western Outdoor Clubs believes that the proposal as presented does not provide adequate protection for either the fishery or the River's and Creeks' other outstanding values.

ACTION: The FWOC urges its member groups and members to contact Regional Forester, Jack Blackwell, U.S. Forest Service, Federal Building, 324-25th Street, Ogden, UT 84401 and express opposition to this proposal.
