#1: Protection of Tillamook and Clatsop State Forests (Oregon)
|
|
Located in the northern
coast range mountains of Oregon, the Tillamook and Clatsop State
Forests are recreational and biological jewels requiring substantial
protections to further their recovery after past fires and a history of
careless timber mismanagement. The temperate rainforest
ecosystems of these publicly-owned forests are in early stages of
recovery and are home to numerous species that are listed as threatened
or endangered, including the northern spotted owl, marbled, murrelet,
bald eagle, coho, steelhead and cutthroat trout. It is imperative
that future management planning for these forests protect the entire
are for future generations of human kind and the diverse plants, fish
and wildlife indigenous to the area. |
|
The Federation of Western Outdoor Clubs supports future planning for the Tillamook habitat for the numerous species of fish and wildlife that require this temperate rainforest environment for their survival, for the protection of the watershed, and for public recreation. | |
