Resolution
#17: Grazing on Public Lands
|
|
Allowing uneconomic
grazing of livestock on public lands continues to seriously degrade
these lands. All of the nation's livestock needs can be
profitably grown on private lands that are more suitable for such
uses. Public lands grazing leases, generally resulting in unfair
taxpayer subsidies to a handful of large corporate permittees, should
be halted. |
|
The FWOC reaffirms its
1998 Resolution #9 and reiterates its support for all reasonable
efforts to end subsidized grazing permits on public lands and to
restore these damaged lands for wildlife and watershed values. |
|
ACTION: Members are urged
to write to their Senators and Representatives in Congress and state
legislators, where appropriate urging the cessation of grazing on
public lands. |
