Resolution
#18: Invalidation of USFS Timber Company Contracts
|
|
Federal District Judge
Dwyer in Seattle recently declared a number of timber sales contracts
between the U.S. Forest Service and several timber companies to be
invalid because of the Forest Service's violation of requirements to
conduct detailed ecological surveys of old growth timber sales in
Regions 5 and 6 (California, Oregon, and Washington). |
|
ACTION: The FWOC supports
this decision and urges all member clubs to monitor proposed timber
sales in their areas to ensure that the Forest Service is complying
with all its obligations to identify and protect sensitive ecosystems
and species, prior to any timber sale offerings. |
