Resolution
#24: Chinook Trail
|
|
The Chinook Trail
Association's (CTA) mission is to create a bi-state rimtop loop trail
around the Columbia River Gorge. Since the Gorge has been given
National Scenic Status, the CTA believes that the Chinook Trail should
also be given national Scenic status. The trail follows portions
of the historic Columbia Gorge highway, retraces footpaths Native
Americans used, and follows ridge tops for sweeping views of the
Cascades from Mt. Rainier to Mt. Jefferson. |
|
The FWOC supports the
designation of the Chinook Trail as a national Scenic Trail/National
Historic Trail/National Recreation Trail as specific segments are
defined in the above categories. |
