Resolution
#25: Trail Buffers
|
|
Some public land
management agencies, especially the Department of Natural Resources in
SW Washington have logged school trust land with little or now regard
for trails. In some areas, the DNR has logged across the Pacific
Crest National Scenic Trails. Currently, provisions to protect
trails on state or Federal lands has not been adequately
enforced. It is important to provide a buffer zone along existing
trails, as recommended in a recent proposal before the Forest
Practices Board to protect trails. |
|
The Federation of Western
Outdoor Clubs urges that all public land management agencies shall
provide a wide undisturbed buffer sufficient to protect the aesthetics
of all recognized existing trails. |
