RESOLUTION
#13: NON-RENEWAL OF THE RECREATIONAL FEE DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM
(Obsidians, Shirley Cameron)
|
|
The Federation of Western Outdoor Clubs
support the non-renewal of the Recreational Fee Demonstration Program. |
|
A rider in the 200 U.S.
Senate Interior Appropriations bill would extend the "Fee Demo" program
to 2002. Representatives Lois Capps (D-CA) and Frank Pallone
(D-NJ) are circulating a letter to the Conference Committee asking that
the rider be removed. The Fee Demonstration Program, created by a
rider in 1996, authorizes the Forest Service, BLM, National Park
Service, and the Fish and Wildlife Service to charge admission fees in
many trail areas around the country. |
|
Please contact: Local
Congressional Delegates and urge them to sign the Capps/Pallone letter
and to co-sponsor HR 786 to stop fee demonstrations on Forest Service
Lands. Ask that Congress restore regular appropriations to manage
suitable recreation on federal public lands. |
