RESOLUTION
#16: DESIGNATION OF BLACK ROCK - HIGH ROCK NATIONAL CONSERVATION AREA
IN NORTHWEST NEVADA (Friends of Nevada Wilderness, Marge Sill)
|
|
The Federation of Western Outdoor Clubs
supports the designation of a Black Rock - High Rock National
Conservation Area in northwest Nevada. |
|
The Black Rock - High Rock
region contains well-preserved remnants of the Applegate-Lassen
historic trail, prehistoric remains, bighorn sheep and other wildlife,
hot springs with endangered desert dace, and a variety of outstanding
scenic and biological and environmental resource values. Senator
Richard Bryan of Nevada, who is retiring at the end of this year, has
introduced legislation for a Black Rock - High Rock National
Conservation Area, including wilderness designation for eleven
Wilderness Study Areas in the region. This legislation has been
co-sponsored by Nevada Senator Harry Reid, and should be enacted in
this session of Congress. |

your Congressional Delegations and ask them to support rapid passage of
this legislation. |
