RESOLUTION
#13: CALIFORNIA WILD HERITAGE CAMPAIGN
|
The California Wild
Heritage Campaign (including the Sierra Club, California Wilderness
Coalition, The Wilderness Society, and many other statewide and local
groups) have been working with Senator Barbara Boxer of California to
introduce a new California wilderness bill. This bill will
protect some of the areas omitted in the 1984 and 1994 acts (including
the spectacular 300,000 acre White Mountain area in eastern California)
that are now threatened by off-road vehicle activity. Senator
Boxer has indicated that she wishes to introduce this bill during this
session of Congress, and the Calfionria Wild Heritage Campaign has been
working closely with her to garner local and citizen support for such a
bill. |
The Federation of Western
Outdoor Clubs strongly supports legislation for a new California
Wilderness Bill which does not include special provisions or exceptions
that weaken wilderness protection. |
