RESOLUTION
#31: FEE DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM
|
The Federation of Western
Outdoor Clubs voted in 2000 to oppose the renewal of the Fee
Demonstration Program for recreational use of the national
forests. A bill making the Fee Demonstration Program permanent is
moving through Congress. |
There is still is
considerable opposition to taxpayers being assessed a fee to use trails
on their own public lands, particularly when the fees for commercial
uses on public lands are so low (e.g. with regard to mineral extraction
and grazing fees). The Federation believes that Congress should
adequately fund the Forest Service. |
The Federation of Western
Outdoor Clubs calls upon Congress not to give permanent status to the
trail Fee Demonstration Project. |
