OPPOSITION TO UNLAWFUL SALVAGE LOGGING

The Forest Service, in its determination to salvage log the Biscuit Fire area in the Siskiyou National Forest of Oregon, has "mistakenly" allowed logging to occur in the Babyfoot Lake Botanical Area adjacent to the Kalmiopsis Wilderness--despite the fact that the areas are marked with GPS information.

Logging in designated botanical areas is not permitted by the administrative rules of the Forest Service.

This flagrant breach by the Forest Service of the public trust and its own rules, while at the same time denying public access to this area, is inexcusable.  The Forest Service's disregard of the proper environmental protection of this invaluable natural area should be investigated by an independent review board and proper disciplinary action taken against those responsible for this disregard of the Forest Service's own rules.
