RES. NO. 11:  OPPOSE POLITICAL CENSORSHIP OF GOVERNMENT ENVIRONMENTAL DOCUMENTS


BACKGROUND:
During the past seven years, many documents stating the results of environmental research by government scientists have been altered by members of the present administration for political reasons. This censorship has resulted in a breach of trust between the scientific community and the government, and the failure of the government to take action on important environmental concerns such as global warming, extinction of species, and destruction of old-growth forests.


RESOLUTION:
The Federation of Western Outdoor Clubs opposes political censorship of environmental documents issued by government scientists and supports peer review of such documents.
