1990 RESOLUTIONS
|
ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT |
24. | ||
ISSUE | The re-writing of the
Endangered Species Act to pull its teeth is being promoted by
industries such as the Building Industries Association which frequently
acquired undeveloped land. Many industries ignore the necessity
for saving wildlife habitat, both flora and fauna. |
||
The environment and the
economy are both important, but habitat once destroyed cannot be
replaced. |
|||
STATUS |
The Endangered Species Act
requires that industry consider the environment so that nature's
handiwork will not be sacrificed for quick profits. |
||
WHAT TO DO |
The Federation of Western
Outdoor Clubs is adamantly opposed to any re-writing of the Act that
will diminish protection provided by the present law and urges its
members to contact their Congressional delegation for support in
maintaining the Act in its present form. |
