PRESERVING OUR NATIONAL PARKS
1995 FWOC
Resolution
No. 14:
|
|
The National Park Service
is facing steep budget cuts in its support by the federal
government. Private donations are increasing somewhat; this will
help keep the parks open. The non-profit National Parks
Foundation last year collected more than 6.7 million dollars, which was
donated and used to help train park employees, restore historic sites,
and to maintain trails. Thousands of volunteers also contributed
time and labor to maintain the parks.
|
Each member organization
of the Federation of Western
Outdoor Clubs is urged to include in their budget an annual
contribution to the National Parks Foundation, and to encourage their
members to be involved as volunteers to assist in the parks' working
projects. |

FWOC members and member clubs are also
urged to request their congressional representatives to ensure that
National Parks and their employees are adequately funded.
