FEDERATION OF WESTERN OUTDOOR CLUBS

THE ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT
1995 FWOC Resolution No. 18:

The current Congress is attempting to wipe out the Endangered Species Act.  This is a weak-minded appeasement to special interest groups who have been complaining that the requirements of the Act are hampering "progress"; which is defined in their minds as putting dollars in their pickets.  Their "thinking" seems to be that property rights supersede the rights of wildlife of any species - whether animal or vegetable.
The Federation of Western Outdoor Clubs is opposed to ANY weakening of the Endangered Species Act.
One only has to look at the desert lands of southern Iraq, which were once fertile and irrigated lands, and contained humankinds' first big cities, to appreciate the folly of not fully supporting nature in all its variety, and how human arrogance inevitably leads to ecological disaster.
It's a simple fact.

If you don't take care of the lands, it can't take care of you!

FWOC members and member clubs are urged to send a copy of this important FWOC resolution to their congressional delegations along with comments of their own on this very significant issue.  A copy of their remarks should also be sent to Idaho's Senator Dirk Kempthorne, who is leading the shameful effort to "Reform" (i.e., gut) the Endangered Species Act!
