NO WEAKENING OF THE CLEAN WATER ACT
1995 FWOC
Resolution
No. 20:
|
|
The Clean Water Act is in
danger of being seriously weakened by the current Congress. If
this comes to pass, it would surely result in health hazard for the
entire population of the United States.
|
Such weakening is often
proposed by industries that are water consumptive, or that pollute
waters by their activities. These industries must NOT be allowed
to adversely affect a resource that ALL life on this planet, including
U.S. voters, needs to live, regardless of what the adherence to good
water quality standards does to their Profit and Loss statements.
|
|
Clean Water Standards are
sometimes objected to by small communities because of the local cost of
providing clean water. Such cases are a valid circumstance for
applying federal or state funds to support such communities to provide
clean water for their citizens.
|
The Federation of Western
Outdoor Clubs is opposed to any weakening of the Clean Water Act. |
