FEDERATION OF WESTERN OUTDOOR CLUBS

1997 FWOC Resolution No. 13:

SUPPORT BRYAN AMENDMENT TO CUT SUBSIDIES FOR LOGGING ROADS

In September, Senator Dick Bryan (D-NV) will offer an amendment to cut subsidies for logging roads when the Senate takes up the Interior Appropriations bill.  The Bryan amendment will:
1.  Cut federal funding for the construction of new logging roads on National Forests.
2.  Save taxpayers money.
3.  Eliminate a hidden subsidy for timber industry that encourages irresponsible logging practices.
4.  Protect water quality and habitat for fish and wildlife.
5.  Protect existing roadless areas.
The Federation of Western Outdoor Clubs strongly supports the Bryan amendment to cut subsidies for logging roads from the Interior Appropriations Bill.

F.W.O.C. member clubs and members are urged to contact to their Senator to support the Bryan amendment to the Interior Appropriations Bill.
