SUPPORT BRYAN AMENDMENT TO CUT SUBSIDIES FOR
LOGGING ROADS
|
|
In September, Senator Dick
Bryan (D-NV) will offer an amendment to cut subsidies for logging roads
when the Senate takes up the Interior Appropriations bill. The
Bryan amendment will: |
|
1. Cut federal
funding for the construction of new logging roads on National Forests.
2. Save taxpayers money. 3. Eliminate a hidden subsidy for timber industry that encourages irresponsible logging practices. 4. Protect water quality and habitat for fish and wildlife. 5. Protect existing roadless areas. |
|
The Federation of Western
Outdoor Clubs strongly supports the Bryan amendment to cut subsidies
for logging roads from the Interior Appropriations Bill. |
