RESOLUTION
#5: PROPOSED 500,000-ACRE BOULDER-WHITE CLOUD MOUNTAINS WILDERNESS IN
CENTRAL IDAHO (Boulder-White Clouds Council, Inc., Lynne K. Stone)
|
|
The Federation of Western Outdoor Clubs
supports the designation of a 500,000-acre wilderness for the
Boulder-White Cloud Mountains in Central Idaho. The wilderness is
the largest unprotected expanse of wild country on U.S. Forest Service
lands in the lower 48 states. |
|
The U.S. Forest Service
and the Bureau of Land Management have recommended, through agency land
plans, a total of 251,000 acres for designated wilderness.
Conservation, hunting, and fishing groups have proposed a much larger
eco-system base wilderness which protects watersheds and wildlife
habitat. |
|
Please contact: Representative Mike Simpson (www.house.gov) and urge him to introduce a 500,000-acre wilderness bill for the Boulder-White Clouds area in Idaho. Also, ask your Congressional Delegation (www.senate.gov for U.S. Senators) to co-sponsor this bill. Visit the Boulder-White Cloud Mountains to experience this wonderful wild land of lakes and peaks. |
